Add, Edit, and Delete Subject Areas

Subject Areas are used to segment requirements in a graduation set. Subject areas vary from state to school, district to district, and school to school, so take some time to think about your graduation set(s), your requirements, and how you want to segment them before you begin defining any aspects of your graduation set in the system. Subject areas include things like the following: 

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Laboratory Science
  • History & Social Science
  • Physical Education
  • Computers/IT
  • Foreign Language
  • Economics & Personal Finance
  • Electives

Prerequisite Steps

If this is your first time dealing with subject areas or graduation sets and/or if you do not yet have one or more graduation sets in the system, we HIGHLY recommend that you complete the following prerequisite step before you begin adding, editing, or deleting subject areas: 

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Go to Feature Administration in the green vertical navigation menu on the left side of the screen.

  2. In the Graduation Sets area, click "Subject Areas." 

  3. Click "New Subject Area" link to add a new subject area (or click the existing subject area in the grid that you wish to edit/delete so that you are given the option to edit or delete it). 

  4. Fill in a Subject Area Name (for example "English" or "Mathematics" or "Electives"). 

  5. Fill in a description of the subject area in the Subject Area Description field (this is optional).

  6. Click the Insert button.

  7. Repeat for all of your subject areas.

Next, Add a Graduation Set.
