Responsibility Increases Self Esteem (R.I.S.E.) Program Management
The Responsibility Increases Self Esteem (R.I.S.E.) Program was developed by Roger Fazzone, Ed. D., President of Maplebrook School in Amenia, New York. Instead of leveraging a disciplinary approach that punishes bad behaviors, the R.I.S.E Program seeks to reward good student behavior.
In the program, students must meet various responsibilities throughout the day. Their progress is recorded on frequently-submitted "report cards" which are sent to faculty advisors (mentors). Faculty mentors meet with students at a defined cadence to review the students' progress. Each student and mentor team submits progress reports to a R.I.S.E. "committee" for review. The Committee makes recommendations for special awards, commendations, and recognition. A carefully crafted incentive system provides external support for each student’s continued success.
The R.I.S.E. Program is critical to Maplebrook School's efforts to promote a healthy view of self based upon real accomplishments and yields students of a meritorious character.
Managing the R.I.S.E. Program in SchoolFront
For over a decade, the faculty and staff at Maplebrook School managed the R.I.S.E program manually, using paper forms and hand-written/typed reports. In order improve the efficiency of key aspects of the program, reduce paperwork, and centralize storage of R.I.S.E.-related information, the folks at Maplebrook asked if the development team at SchoolFront would build the components of R.I.S.E into the the SchoolFront system.
When the SchoolFront Team learned about R.I.S.E they recognized that it was an extremely valuable program that could be significantly streamlined with technology. Maplebrook gave SchoolFront permission to share the R.I.S.E program with other SchoolFront customers and the SchoolFront R.I.S.E. Program Management feature was born.
