Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Login as an administrator.
  2. Ensure that you are logged into the correct school by looking at the name of the school in the left navigation menu. If you are in the wrong school, click Change Role to switch to the correct School.
  3. Once you are in the correct school, place your mouse cursor over Manage Courses in the left navigation menu. A sub-menu will open.
  4. Click Export/Import Course Sections. The page will open.
  5. Click the link to download empty data sheet to excel format.
  6. Open the Excel sheet.
  7. Use the following table to fill in the columns:

Column Name

Description / Instructions

Course Identifier

You will get this ID from the Master Course Catalog. To reference the Master Course Catalog go to Manage Courses>View Master Catalog>Find the Course in the Grid>See the ID on the Details Tab.

Examples:

  • If you are creating a section of 12th Grade Spanish, you would enter “12-Span.”
  • If you are creating a section of Kinder Painting, you would enter “K-Paint.”
  • If you are creating a section of Academy 12th Grade Spanish, you would enter “A12-Span.”

Primary Teacher ID

You will get this information from the Manage Teachers section.

You can also get a list of all all student IDs by going to the Manage Staff Section and exporting the data grid to Excel.

Examples:

  • If Mr. Duncan will run the section, you would enter Mr. Duncan's ID, e.g. “FEH10001.”
  • If Ms. Peters will run the section, you would enter her ID, e.g. “FEH10002.”

Section Description

This is optional, but you can enter a description of the section and the teacher who will be teaching it.

Section

Leave this blank if you are creating a new section.

Enter the section ID if you are editing the section.

After you import sections, if you wish to generate individualized student schedules (not all students require a schedule--e.g. kindergarten through 5th grade students frequently are not required to rotate between teachers and classrooms every period) you will still need to schedule the sections.
