Import Enrollment

Define Student Course Enrollment in Bulk in SchoolFront

After courses have been imported into the system, SchoolFront allows administrator users to enroll students in the courses with student IDs and course IDs using a Microsoft Excel™ spreadsheet import.

Once enrollments have been defined by an administrator user, teachers can login to the system and make adjustments to enrollments in their own courses, adding and removing students where appropriate.

Applicable System Roles

System users with the following roles can do this:

  • Administrator Only

Step-by-Step Instructions

Warning: You MUST import courses and students into the system before the system will allow you to import enrollment information. This process will require that you have the unique identifier of the course and of the students enrolled in the course as they are listed in the system.

  1. Login as an administrator.
  2. Ensure that you are logged into the correct school by looking at the name of the school in the left navigation menu. If you are in the wrong school, click Change Role to switch to the correct School.
  3. Once you are in the correct school, place your mouse cursor over Manage Courses in the left navigation menu. A sub-menu will open.
  4. Click Export/Import Course Enrollment. The page will open.
  5. Click the link to download empty data sheet to excel format.
  6. Open the Excel sheet.
  7. Use the following table to fill in the columns:

Column Name

Description / Instructions

Student ID

You will get this from the student profile in SchoolFront. You can also get a list of all all student IDs by going to the Manage Students Section and exporting the data grid to Excel.

Course Identifier

You will get this ID from the Section Details tab. Go to Manage Courses>View Course Sections.

Examples:

  • If you are creating a section of 12th Grade Spanish, you would enter “12-Span.”
  • If you are creating a section of Kinder Ballet, you would enter “K-Ballet.”

Section

The Section Identifier is also found on the Section Details tab. Go to Manage Courses>View Course Sections. It is the number(s) after the hyphen.

Examples:

  • If the Section Identifier is “PK-Art-1” you would enter “1.”
  • If the Section Identifier is “09Math-13” you would enter “13.”

8. Follow the Online Help instructions for Data Importing.

9. When you are done following the Data Import instructions, the information you added and the changes you made to the spreadsheet will be in the system. If you view all courses in the system, you will see the changes you made on the enrollment tabs of the courses.
