Course Sections

Create & Manage Course Sections from the Master Course Catalog

A section is an occurrence of a course. Each course can have one or more sections that meet in different rooms at different times, and may be taught by different teachers. For example, if a school has an English Composition course but too many students for one class, they can create several sections of the course.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Add a New Course Section


1. Login as an administrator.

2. Go to Courses in the left navigation menu, then click on View Course Sections.

3. Click New Course. The New Course Section form will open.

4. Fill in the information in the form:

Field Name Description
Course Catalog Choose the course for which you would like to create a section from the Master Course Catalog list. If you do not see the course you need, add it to the Master Course Catalog.
Teacher Choose a teacher from the drop-down. This will be the primary teacher for the course section and will have the most administrative permissions over the course. If you do not see the teacher you need, add the teacher to the staff.
Teacher Description Here the teacher can describe the course in his or her own words.


5. Click the Insert button.

Schedule a Course Section
 

1. Login as an administrator.

2. Go to Courses in the left navigation menu.

3. Select View Course Sections

3. Find the section you want and then click it to view its details.

4. Go to the Schedule tab. The schedule will open for the section.

5. Click New Course Room Schedule.

6. Fill in the information:

Field Name Description
Period Choose a period from the drop-down menu. If there are no periods. Add them to the system.
Day Choose a day from the drop-down menu. If there are no days. Add them to the system.
Available Weekdays Click the applicable weekdays.
Room Choose the room/location from the drop-down menu. If the correct room/location is not in the list add it.


7. Click the Save button.

Note: If you want to delete a section, go back to the Schedule tab, find the section you want to delete, and click the red X icon.

Edit or Delete a Course Section
 

1. Login as an administrator.

2. Go to Courses in the left navigation menu.

3. Go to Course Sections.

4. Find the section that you would like to edit or delete and click on it.

5. Click edit or delete.

6. If you wish to edit the item, remember to click the save button before you navigate away to save your changes.
