SchoolFront Portal CMS Icons

There are icons used repeatedly throughout SchoolFront Portal CMS. If you learn what the icons mean, navigating and using the system will be easier. Below are icons used in the system. There is a separate section in the SchoolFront Online Help dedicated to the icons from the WYSIWYG editor.

Icon

Description


 

Location: This icon is found in the Page Tree in the Add/Edit Pages section. You get there by going to Administration Menu>Add/Edit Pages.

Purpose: These arrows are used to move pages around in the website hierarchy. If you select a page in the hierarchy list:

  1. The arrow at the top will send the page to the very top of the list under its parent page. It will not go higher than its parent page.
     
  2. The second arrow will send the page up just one page higher.
     
  3. The third arrow will send the page down just one page lower.
     
  4. The arrow at the very bottom will send the page to the very bottom of the list under its parent page. It will not go lower than the lowest child-page under its parent page. 
     

 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon will delete the selected folder and all of its contents. Use this icon with care.
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon will allow you to download the selected file to your computer--you can then edit the file and re-upload it if you need to.
 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon will delete the selected file. Use this icon with care.
 


 

Location: This is the icon associated with the Edit this Page button. You can see the button by looking at the very bottom of your screen.

Purpose: Clicking this button will take you to an area where you can add and remove the web-parts on the page.
 


 

Location: This is the icon associated with the File Manager button. You can see the button by looking at the very bottom of your screen.

Purpose: Clicking the button will open the file manager. The file manager holds all files (code, images, scripts, videos, documents, etc.) associated with your SchoolFront Portal CMS site. You can upload, download, delete, rename, and move files and folders in this section.
 


 

Location: The garbage can icon is found throughout the system.

Purpose: Selecting an item and then clicking the garbage can icon will delete the selected item. Use this icon with care.
 


 

Location: The help icon, a blue circle with a question mark, is located throughout the system, but is found most frequently in the Settings sections.

Purpose: When you click this icon Help Content or instructions that are specific to the area in which you are currently working will open providing you with an explanation of the setting and sometimes further instructions for usage.
 


 

Location: The magnifying glass icon is located through out the application.

Purpose: Clicking this icon will allow you to view/open the item selected.
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon will allow you to move the location of a selected file to a different parent folder.
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon will allow you to move the location of a selected folder to a different folder.
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon will allow you to create a new folder. The new folder will appear in whatever folder you have selected currently.
 


 

Location: This is the icon associated with the New Page button. You can see the button by looking at the very bottom of your screen.

Purpose: If you click this button you will be taken to a page that will allow you to create a brand new page for your CMS website. By default, the page will be a child-/sub-page of the page you were on when you clicked the button.
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon will allow you to see the following details/properties of the selected file:

  • Name
  • Size
  • Content type
  • Date Last Modified
     

 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This button will refresh the files/folders.
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon will allow you to change the name of the selected file.
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon will allow you to change the name of the selected folder.
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon indicates that the folder is the current selected/opened folder.
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the Page Tree in the Add/Edit Pages section. You get there by going to Administration Menu>Add/Edit Pages.

Purpose: Clicking this icon will organize the pages at the same level as the selected page in alphabetic order.  
 


 

Location: This icon is found in the File Manager section. You get there by clicking the File Manager button at the bottom of the screen.

Purpose: This icon is use to upload a new file into the selected folder.
 

  

 

Location: Icons with the wrench are located throughout the system.

Purpose: This icon will open a Settings Menu for the associated object, whether it be the page or one of the web-parts on the page. You can personalize configurations of pages and web-parts in the Settings sections.

Location: This is the icon associated with the Administration section button. You can see the button by looking at the very bottom of your screen.

Purpose: Clicking this button will take you to the Administration home screen where you can perform a variety of system administration tasks if you have system administration privileges in the system.
