Add One or More Rubrics to a Master Course

One or more rubrics can be linked to each course in your SchoolFront Master Catalog. Some courses may have 1 rubric, others may have 1 rubric for written assignment assessment, 1 for oral assignment assessment, etc. All course sections created from the Master Course will be able to use the rubrics associated with the Master Course for assessment if they wish to do so.

The SchoolFront system has centralized the management of rubrics in this way so that (1) standards/skills would be consistent no matter which teacher is teaching the course to a specific level of student, and (2) so that if you need to update the rubrics, the changes only need to be made in one location in SchoolFront and will be reflected in the rubrics used by all sections of the Master Course after the change is made.

Step-by-Step Instructions

To add 1 or more rubrics created in the Manage Rubrics section to a Master Course:

  1. Login to SchoolFront as an Administrator.
  2. Place your mouse cursor on Manage Courses and then click View Master Catalog in the sub-menu.
  3. Locate a Master Course to which you wish to add 1 or more rubrics (e.g. by using grid filters or scrolling through the pages of the grid).
  4. Click the Master Course to view Details.
  5. Click the Rubrics tab.
  6. Click New Course Catalog Rubric.
  7. Locate the Rubric in the list (you can sort on Rubric Description and Rubric Name to narrow down your choices.
  8. Check the checkboxes next to 1 or more rubrics.
  9. Click the Save button.
  10. The rubric(s) you added will now be available to teachers who teach sections of the Master Course--you will need to switch your role to "Teacher" and Associate a Rubric with a Grade Category.
