Add a New School Year to SchoolFront

This section explains how to add a new school year to the system.

After you add a new school year to the system, you will need to configure the marking periods in that school year, and you will need to move students from the previous (current) school year into the new school year with appropriate promotions in grade level and school enrollment. 

Important:

  • If you have multiple schools in the system, you will need to repeat this process for each school. 

  • If you have a program, such as a summer camp or other activity that you have managed as a "school" in SchoolFront, you can make that program ("school") non-promotable in the system so that the system does not recommend moving students from other of your schools into that "school" during the student year/grade level/school promotion process

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Click Feature Administration in the green left-hand navigation menu. 

  2. In the section called "Scheduling & Courses" click Year & Marking Periods.

  3. Click the New School Year link at the top of the grid.

  4. Enter a name for the new school year (e.g. "2012-2013").

  5. Enter a start date for the new school year (ensure that it does NOT overlap into the active dates of any other promotable school years).

  6. Enter an end date for the new school year (ensure that it does NOT overlap into the active dates of any other promotable school years.)

  7. Enter the number of marking periods in the school year. Include BOTH standard and summary marking periods.

  8. Click the Insert button.
